What is CIF (Cost, Insurance & Freight)?

Calculating CIF terms provides buyers with a comprehensive landed price quote delivered to their destination port of entry.

Formula

CIF Price = FOB Unit Price + Ocean/Air Freight per Piece + Marine Insurance per Piece

How to Calculate

Add unit freight charge and unit marine transit insurance cost to the base FOB export price.

Example

FOB = $6.50, Freight = $0.45, Insurance = $0.05 → CIF Price = 6.50 + 0.45 + 0.05 = $7.00 / pc.
