CFT Calculator — Calculate Cubic Feet for Shipping Cartons

CFT (Cubic Feet) measures shipment volume the same way CBM does, but in imperial units — used when freight forwarders or buyers quote shipping costs in cubic feet instead of cubic meters.

What is CFT Calculation?

CFT (Cubic Feet) measures shipment volume the same way CBM does, but in imperial units — used when freight forwarders or buyers quote shipping costs in cubic feet instead of cubic meters.

Formula

CFT per carton = (Length_in × Width_in × Height_in) ÷ 1728 Total CFT = CFT per carton × Carton Quantity

How to Calculate

Multiply carton length, width, and height in inches, divide by 1,728 to convert to cubic feet, then multiply by carton count.

Example

20in × 16in × 12in, 1 carton → 3,840 ÷ 1,728 = 2.222 CFT.

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes — both measure volume; CFT uses cubic feet, CBM uses cubic meters. Use whichever your freight quote requires.
