Practical Commercial Flow
Apex Apparels commercial officer arrives at Eastern Bank Ltd (AD Branch) with a complete 12-document set for Master L/C #LC-GER-9912. Commercial Officer submits documents with a formal Bank Lodgment Letter requesting Foreign Documentary Bill Purchase (FDBP) @ 90% advance. Bank trade examiner audits the file, certifies clean compliance on Day 2, and credits $162,000 into the factory's offshore banking ERQ account on Day 3.
Factory Real-Life Scenario
Scenario: A commercial officer submitted documents without a formal bank lodgment cover letter, resulting in the bank misrouting the file to the regular collection desk instead of the expedited bill purchase desk.
Solution: Commercial Manager submitted a formal written lodgment instruction letter requesting immediate bill purchase under FDBP facility.
Impact: Corrected the routing and unlocked $140,000 in immediate working capital.
Commercial Officer Best Practice
Always prepare the Bank Lodgment Schedule in duplicate and obtain an official date-stamped receipt from the bank teller with the officer's signature and time of submission.
Top Beginner Mistakes to Avoid
- Handing documents to the bank after 3:30 PM, causing the bank to record the presentation date as the following working day.
- Omitting the factory's foreign currency account number (ERQ / Retention Quota) on the lodgment instruction sheet.
