Manpower Calculator — Calculate Operators Needed for a Production Target

Before a new style starts, planners need to know how many operators a line needs to hit a required daily output — this reverses the usual target calculation to solve for manpower instead.

What is Manpower Calculation?

Before a new style starts, planners need to know how many operators a line needs to hit a required daily output — this reverses the usual target calculation to solve for manpower instead.

Formula

Manpower Required = (Target Output × SMV) / (Working Minutes × Efficiency%/100)

Result is rounded up to the next whole operator.

How to Calculate

Multiply target pieces by garment SMV, then divide by total available working minutes multiplied by line efficiency percentage. Round up to the next integer.

Example

Target=10,000 pcs/day, SMV=0.75, Working Minutes=600, Efficiency=60% → 20.83 → 21 operators.

Frequently Asked Questions

Because you can't staff a fractional operator — rounding down would understaff the line and make the target unreachable.
