Sample Fabric Consumption Estimator — Fabric for Proto & Fit Samples

Calculating sample fabric requirements before development runs prevents sample room bottlenecks and ensures exact fabric swatches are reserved from the mill.

What is Sample Fabric Consumption?

Calculating sample fabric requirements before development runs prevents sample room bottlenecks and ensures exact fabric swatches are reserved from the mill.

Formula

Total Sample Fabric (kg) = Unit Garment Consumption (kg) × Number of Samples × (1 + Sample Wastage % / 100)

How to Calculate

Calculate per-piece fabric weight using garment dimensions and GSM, add sample room wastage (typically 10–15%), and multiply by total sample garments requested.

Example

Unit Consumption = 0.25 kg/pc, Samples = 4 pcs, Wastage = 10% → Total = 0.25 × 4 × 1.10 = 1.10 kg.

Frequently Asked Questions

Sampling involves manual single-piece cutting on short fabric lengths, creating larger end-loss proportion per piece.
