Garment Defect & Rejection Percentage Calculator — Quality Yield %

Calculating rejection rate and first-pass yield (FPY) allows quality assurance managers to evaluate sewing line quality, reduce rework costs, and improve AQL pass rates.

What is Defect & Rejection Percentage?

Calculating rejection rate and first-pass yield (FPY) allows quality assurance managers to evaluate sewing line quality, reduce rework costs, and improve AQL pass rates.

Formula

Rejection Rate % = (Rejected Pieces / Total Inspected Pieces) × 100 First Pass Yield (FPY) % = 100 − Rejection Rate %

How to Calculate

Divide the total number of rejected or unrepairable defective garments by total inspected units, then multiply by 100.

Example

Total Inspected = 500 pcs, Rejects = 15 pcs → Rejection Rate = (15 / 500) × 100 = 3.0% → FPY = 97.0%.

Frequently Asked Questions

Rejection % tracks the percentage of defective garments, while DHU counts total defect points (a single garment could have multiple defects).
