Cutting Room Fabric Wastage Calculator — Calculate Fabric Scrap %

Measuring cutting room fabric wastage helps factory managers and merchandisers track fabric utilization, control scrap losses, and optimize marker efficiency.

What is Cutting Room Fabric Wastage?

Measuring cutting room fabric wastage helps factory managers and merchandisers track fabric utilization, control scrap losses, and optimize marker efficiency.

Formula

Cutting Wastage % = [(Total Issued Fabric Weight − Net Cut Panel Weight) / Total Issued Fabric Weight] × 100

How to Calculate

Subtract net usable cut panel weight from total fabric weight issued to the cutting floor, divide by total issued weight, and multiply by 100.

Example

Issued = 1,000 kg, Net Cut Panels = 930 kg → Wasted = 70 kg → Wastage Rate = (70 / 1000) × 100 = 7.0%.

Frequently Asked Questions

Benchmarks are under 5–6% for woven fabrics and under 7–8% for knit fabrics with tubular or open-width slitting.
